Paralegal Position
Washington DC

Hobbs, Straus, Dean & Walker, LLP (www.hobbsstraus.com) is a national law firm dedicated to promoting and defending the rights of Indian tribal governments. The firm is seeking a Paralegal for our Washington, DC Office. The position will entail covering client meetings and drafting reports, drafting fact-based pleadings, legal and academic editing, supervised legal research, and internet research. Applicants must demonstrate litigation experience, including preparing for trial, keeping case files up to date, drafting form pleadings (from templates), proposed orders, preparing exhibits, cite checking/proofreading briefs, case tracking in high volume filing cases and familiarity with PACER, Westlaw, court rules and electronic filing. Applicants must also demonstrate experience using Power Point, Canva/Adobe Photoshop/HTML and other visual presentation software to develop presentations, infographics and other advocacy materials.

Responsibilities:
• Researches cases and legal issues to support client cases, and prepares the appropriate documentation according to established procedures.
• Communicates legal details to clients in a clear and precise manner in Partner/Associate’s absence without providing legal consultation or advice.
• Transcribes legal documents and court papers on computer from dictation and notation with precise terminology and speed.
• Researches, retrieves and updates appropriate information in clients’ case files, computer directories and discs as needed.
• Coordinates and confirms deposition schedules with other law firms as well as field incoming inquiries regarding court related details.
• Responds to clients in a professional manner at all times to best represent the firm and expand business.
• Facilitates the timely delivery of legal documents and packages.
• Maintains an updated and accurate master calendar.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
B.A Degree or higher. Prior law firm experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $50,000 – $75,000 (depending on experience)
