The Department of the Treasury Accepting Applications for Membership on Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee

On April 6, 2026, the Department of the Treasury (Treasury) published a notice in the Federal Register accepting applications for the appointment of three members of the Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee (TTAC).  Applications must be emailed to TTAC@treasury.gov with a subject line “Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee member application” by May 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. AKT.

The TTAC was created pursuant to the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act of 2014.  The TTAC advises the Secretary of the Treasury (Secretary) on matters related to the taxation of Indians, training and education for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) field agents, and training and technical assistance for Tribal financial officers.  The TTAC is composed of seven total members, including three members appointed by the Secretary.

According to the notice, Treasury is seeking applications from individuals with experience and qualifications in the subject areas of Tribal tax, IRS field agent training, and Native American financial officer training and technical assistance.  The three members appointed to the TTAC by the Secretary will serve terms of four years

Interested applicants must submit a detailed resume and cover letter which describes the applicant’s reasons for applying.  All candidates are required to pass an IRS tax compliance check and a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background investigation.  Application materials must contain a statement from the applicant agreeing to submit to a pre-appointment IRS tax compliance check and an FBI criminal background investigation in accordance with Treasury Directive 21-03.
