The House Appropriations Committee Agencies has announced the schedule and instructions for the FY 2027 American Indian and Alaska Native Public Witness Hearings.
This Committee has jurisdiction over discretionary funding for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Indian Education, and Indian Health Service. Tribes and Tribal organizations are invited to share their appropriations priorities, which will in turn inform the Committee’s proposed discretionary funding levels for these agencies.
These hearings will take place in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, March 17, and Wednesday, March 18, 2026. There is also an opportunity to submit written testimony in addition to or instead of the verbal testimony.
Testifying In Person. For Tribes interested in testifying in person, the deadline to submit a request to testify is Monday, February 23, 2026. Instructions for submitting a request are here.
Submitting Written Testimony. The Committee will also accept written testimony from Tribes by April 24, 2026. Guidance on providing written testimony can be found here.
