Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist

Hobbs, Straus, Dean & Walker, LLP (www.hobbsstraus.com) is a national law firm dedicated to promoting and defending the rights of Indian tribal governments. The firm is seeking a Billing & Accounts Receivable specialist for our Washington, DC Office. The position will entail Billing and accounts receivable tasks, must have strong communication and customer service skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. All candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and previous experience working with billing software, preferably Orion Financial Management. Other requirements include a bachelor’s degree and two to three years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

  • Distributing monthly prebills to Partners and revising as necessary
  • Create, format, and finalize invoices and forward to respective Partners
  • Maintaining accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date
  • Verifying invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
  • Monitoring incoming payments and ensuring they are applied correctly
  • Reconciling accounts receivable ledger with the general ledger
  • Resolving discrepancies between customer payments and invoices
  • Handling customer inquiries regarding bills or payments
  • Assisting with month-end closing activities such as preparing journal entries
  • Developing reports related to accounts receivable activity
  • Working with other departments to resolve billing issues or disputes
  • Maintaining bookkeeping databases and spreadsheets and updating information as needed
  • Communicating with clients regarding payment of outstanding balances
  • Updating client accounts based on payment or contact information
  • Assist with year-end financial spreadsheets and ensuring all journal entries are accurate and posted in the correct accounts
  • Provide support to the firm Comptroller
  • Perform additional tasks as required

Skills:
Microsoft office suite proficient, Orion Financial Management billing software experience preferred, attention to detail, data entry, invoicing, reconciliation, effective communication.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, two plus year of experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000
