Anna M. Sherman-Weiss

Associate Attorney

Anna joined Hobbs Straus as an associate in November 2025.

Before joining the firm, Anna clerked for Judge Molly R. Silfen on the United States Court of Federal Claims. Prior to that, she worked for another law firm dedicated to serving tribes and tribal organizations.

Anna received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2022. There, she served as an Executive Managing Editor for the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and an Article Editor for the Harvard Environmental Law Review. During law school, Anna interned for the Yurok Tribe’s Office of the Tribal Attorney and the Native American Rights Fund, and externed for Judge Robert E. Bacharach on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Before law school, Anna received the James B. Reynolds Scholarship for Foreign Study to pursue a fellowship in comparative Indian law under the supervision of Professor John Borrows at the University of Victoria Faculty of Law (Victoria, Canada). While there, Anna also participated in a variety of Indigenous law courses, including Transsystemic Constitutional Law, a course in the world’s first joint-degree program in common law and Indigenous law.

Anna earned her B.A. from Dartmouth College in cultural-social geography, public policy, and international studies. Anna credits her time at Dartmouth and Professor Dale Turner’s mentorship with inspiring her to pursue a career in tribal advocacy.

Although she currently lives in D.C., Anna is and will always be a New Yorker.
