On January 30, 2012, the Fish and Wildlife Service published the attached FEDERAL REGISTER notice inviting members of the public to attend or file comments for a February 14-15 meeting of the Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council in Washington, DC. The meeting will be open to the public. Those who wish to attend the meeting, submit written comments or questions to be considered during the meeting, or who wish to give a two minute oral presentation should contact the Council Coordinator by February 6, 2012.
The Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council advises the Secretary of Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture (including the Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, Natural Resources Service and Farm Services Agency) on fostering communication and coordination among state, tribal and federal governments and industry representatives, hunters, wildlife and habitat conservation organizations and the public. Items on the agenda include:
1. The Recreational Hunting and Wildlife Resource Conservation Plan—A Ten-Year Plan for Implementation
2. Recreational shooting opportunities on federal lands
3. Programs of the Department of the Interior and Department of Agriculture, and their bureaus, that enhance hunting opportunities and support wildlife conservation
4. The America’s Great Outdoors Initiative
